ExRx.net is accepting applications from qualified graduate and undergraduate students for our internship program in Kansas City, MO. Interns will gain an unique experience at a high traffic internet company for exercise professionals and fitness enthusiasts. Applications are accepted on a year round basis for spring, summer and fall internships.

Requirements:

• Pursuing related degree (one of three treks) from an accredited college or university
  • Exercise / Health Trek: exercise physiology, kinesiology, physical education, health education, health promotion or related field
  • Computer Science Trek: web development, application design, graphic design, etc
  • Business Trek: business administration, marketing, customer service, etc
• Junior, Senior or graduate standing
• Commitment of one semester, full time position
• Strong computer skills
• Self-directed and able to work with little supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication ability
• Quick learner and outstanding organizational skills

Exercise Trek

Internship for academic credit only

• Computer projects
  • Maintain web content and product resources
  • Digital video and image processing
• Research journal articles and other resources
• Help develop online quizzes for CEUs
• Proof read and edit content
• Create and process images and diagrams

Computer Trek

Paid internship for Master's Students

• Develop online fitness applications
• Assist in maintaining and developing websites
• Install and maintain in php applications (eg: phpbb), updates, and MODs.
• Convert video clips to Animated GIFs and Flash video
• Specify project requirements
• Create and process images and diagrams
• Research web technologies and make recommendations

Business Trek

Paid internship for Master's Students

• Manage Projects and remote staff
• Research and analyze marketing strategies
• Prepare reports
• Implement approved plans
• Observe business practices and make recommendations
• Specify project requirements and collect bids from programmers or solution providers
• Research future business alliances

An internship with ExRx.net will provide a valuable learning environment which will assist the student in gaining valuable experience in online fitness, e-commerce, and internet/new media industries. ExRx.net is a suggested internet resource in the ACSM's Resource Manual for Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription, (pgs 224, 349) and rated the most popular exercise instruction web site (rated by Google). Occasion permanent job opportunities may be available for the outstanding interns.

ExRx.net also invites students to contact us, who are interested in working on special projects via e-mail for independent study credit. Students are encouraged to speak with their academic advisor regarding credit requirements.
