ExRx.net is accepting applications from qualified graduate and undergraduate students for dual internship positions at Scott Fitness in Kansas City, MO and ExRx.net. Interns will gain unique experience at two fitness centers and a high traffic internet company for exercise professionals. Applications are accepted on a year round basis for spring, summer and fall internships.

Requirements:

• Pursuing health related degree from an accredited college or university
  • exercise physiology, kinesiology, physical education, health education, health promotion or related field
• Junior/Senior standing
• CPR certified
• Commitment of 10-15 weeks
• 20-40 hours per week
• Strong computer skills
  • familiarity with internet development tools is a plus but not required; training will be provided

Fitness Club Operations

• Supervise facility
• Assist members at front desk
• Demonstrate exercise equipment
• Special projects and promotions

Internet Operations

• Assist in maintaining and developing content centered fitness website
• Computer projects
  • Maintain web content and product resources
  • Digital video and image processing
• Research journal articles and other resources
• Proof reading and editing
• Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills
• Possible assistance with online training

An internship with ExRx.net and Scott Fitness will provide a valuable learning environment which will assist the student in gaining valuable experience in multiple areas of the fitness industry. ExRx.net is a suggested internet resource in the ACSM's Resource Manual for Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription, (pgs 224, 349) and rated the most popular health/fitness website by Ranking.com based on number of unique visitors. Tours can be arranged for Scott Fitness Personal Training and 24 Hour Fitness Club (River Market and Midtown facilities). No stipend or housing accommodations are offered for internships. Interns are encouraged to utilize the facilities and attend bi-monthy parties.

ExRx.net also invites students to contact us, who are interested in working on special projects via e-mail for independent study credit. Students are encouraged to speak with their academic advisor regarding credit requirements.
