About the Author

Brian C. Leutholtz, Ph.D., FACSM, is an Associate Tenured Professor at Old Dominion University (ODU) teaching graduate/undergraduate courses in nutrition and cardiovascular physiology. At ODU, he is the Director of ODU's Therapeutic Exercise Program (TEMPO) for Chronic Diseases. Dr. Leutholtz also serves as a consultant to an aggressive managed care team providing exercise and diet evaluation education. Following graduation in 1992 from Michigan State University where he earned a Ph.D. in clinical exercise physiology, Dr. Leutholtz completed a four-year Clinical Fellowship in Clinical Cardiology at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. A fellow of The American College of Sports Medicine, he has earned the highest certification given by the ACSM as a Clinical Program Director.
