Instructions
Preparation
- Stand or sit. Position bent arm up to side; elbow bent shoulder
height with wrist in front of elbow. Administrator stands at
side of subject and grasps under subject's elbow and on top of
wrist.
Execution
- Administrator keeps subject's elbow directly lateral to subject's
shoulder while gently pushing wrist down/back until tightness
is felt or subject expresses slight discomfort. Repeat with opposite
arm.
Measurement
- Wrist should be able to travel below transverse plane of
shoulder. The distance wrist travels below shoulder or range
of motion is noted for each side.
Comments
- Administrator must keep elbow squarely lateral to shoulder
for consistent assessment protocol. Note any pain or discomfort
during movement. See Shoulder
