is it a waste to take 2 scoops of whey for one drink or would it be better to take 1 serving before workout and 1 serving after

I'd suspect before and after would be better. In terms of whether or not it'd be a waste to take it all at once, I guess it depends on how much protein is in one scoop.

How about 2 before and 2 after with some good carbs? Your body needs sustained energy while you are working out. Protein breaks down slower and thus provide a constant "pump" of energy (I use one scoop of whey and one of ceasin to prolong this effect). Then it needs the protein and carbs to rebuild and heal. The carbs provide the quick energy to halt catabolisis (sp?) and the protein then sustains the energy needed to heal.

At least that is what the supplement companies lead us to believe.

A good book on this is Nutrient Timing or Performance Zone by Ivy. It provides a formula for the right amout of nutrients before, during and after your workout.

You can pick up a used copy of these books on amazon.com Both books provide basically the same information.

Is it worth the money or is it a book that can be adequately summarized on two pages?

23g of protein in one scoop. can your body actually absorb 2 scoops of whey making it 46 grams of protein in 1 serving
