Are roasted and salted peanuts and cashews bad?

I found a place that does them reasonably cheaply (500g peanuts/150g cashews) for about $2.

So is the extra salt content bad? Should I avoid these or are they OK?

Cheers

I don't see anthing at all wrong with them. Some people might get down on the extra salt, but frankly, as long as you don't sit down and eat a truckload of them, say have few at a time 2 or 3 times daily, shouldn't be a problem. IMO anyway.

I didn't think there was a problem

I went through a stage of trying to eat as 'fashionably' healthy as possible by cutting out all the bad things like salt, fats etc. Needless to say my diet was crap, but out of habbit I generally don't add salt to anything so probably need to eat more :D

Just out of interest, how many is 'a few' like 50g or 150g? I was considering eating them as a late evening snack to replace the natural yogurt I have stopped eating.

I have 2 servings at a time on average. 1 to 3, most of the time.

I don't think in grams/oz per serving size. I just think in terms of volume. To me, a serving size iswhat roughly covers the palm of my hand. Makes it easy to grab "a serving' right out of the can and I know it's way less than an oz (convert to gams), and it hate the old measuring thing.

If you're concerned about the salt, see if they have unsalted roasted ones, get them and mix them. I do that pretty often, because I'm concerned about my salt intake a bit* but also for taste. I prefer a little salt flavor, not the crusted-with-salt approach of some nut suppliers.

I also don't worry about servings, I hate measuring and counting. I just like eating.

* The Japanese salt almost everything, I don't feel like helping them along with my snack food.
