Amino Acids, they would be the building blocks for the body. They are a very important part of the bodies function and are just as vital as vitamins. This section will come in three parts, Eight Essential Amino Acids and two groups of six non-essential amino acids.

The 8 Essential Amino Acids

For anyone who does not know this, these are the amino acids that your body can not produce through changing other substances into the required Amino Acid, they must be consumed on a daily basis. To be very general about this, the antagonist to all free form amino acids is heat. Heat will denature the AA's in such a way that their own shape is altered so they becomes worthless or with enough heat totally breakdown. If there are any other antagonist(s) found then that will be stated on an individual basis. The same applies with 'best if used with'.

Histidine
Dosage: 1000 mg daily, chances are you are getting 2-3x that amount in a day without supplementation.
Info: Needed for all tissue repair and growth, involved in the formation of the myelin sheath which greatly protects the nervous system, helps in the removal of heavy metals from the body, radiation protection, improves digestion through production of gastric juices, & may enhance sexual experience.
Best if used with: B-Complex

Lysine
Dosage: 12mg/kg, that amount is even easily exceeded when taking 1.5g/lb of protein. Extra supplementation can be O.K.
Info: Aids in muscle and bone growth through enhanced calcium absorption, helps maintain lean body mass, maintains nitrogen balance, it is required to produce antibodies, various hormones (including Testosterone, and Growth Hormone), enzymes, and collagen for cell repair.

Phenylalanine
Dosage: 14mg/kg, you are easily getting more than that in a good diet.
Info: Alters mood, aids with memory, increases levels of epinephrine, nor-epinephrine, & dopamine. Helps absorb UV rays which in turn creates Vitamin D, used as a non-carb sweetener. Toxic dose on average exceeds 3-4x the dose you get from a diet containing 250-300g of protein.

Methionine
Dosage: 12mg/kg, recommended to take with a ZMA product (Zinc, Methionine, Aspartate)
Info: Is a antioxidant due to the sulfur it supplies, required to manufacture Creatine monohydrate, assists in the breakdown & use of fats, important for digestion, heavy metals can't be removed from the stomach and liver without this substance, essential for muscle growth.
Best if used with: Choline & Inositol

Threonine
Dosage: 8mg/kg, 100-500mg doses when supplemented.
Info: Used to form Collagen & Elastin, needed for proper protein balance, used in the maintenance of the immune system, promotes growth, involved in liver function.

BCAAs (Branched Chain Amino Acids) are very popular among bodybuilders, these are a group of 3 amino acids that are the most potent ones for muscle building & repair, or in other words they are the most anabolic AAs. These AAs are Leucine, Iso-Leucine, & Valine. Best if this is used with B-Complex also there should be a 2:1:2 ratio of these AAs (L:I-L:V).

Leucine
Dosage: 16mg/kg
Info: Strongest of BCAAs, regulates blood sugar levels, used in growth and repair of skin tissues, strong potentiator of Growth Hormone, helps heal wounds, prevent muscle deterioration.
Best if used with: Read BCAA's paragraph

Iso-Leucine
Dosage: 10-12mg/kg
Info: Promotes muscle recovery, regulates blood sugar level, stimulates the release of HGH, used in the formation of blood-clots, & helps in the formation of hemoglobin.
Best if used with: Read BCAA's paragraph

Valine
Dosage: 16mg/kg
Info: Involved in the use of glucose, maintains nitrogen balance, & helps in the repair & growth of muscle tissue.
Best if used with: Read BCAA's paragraph
