Try it and see.

My guess is that you'll have problems - those two bars weren't designed to rest on your shoulders

I agree, the ez bar is too narrow to squat with. You need at least a 6 ft utility bar so you dont cramp your shoulder girdle, the longer the bar, the better the balance you will get. Besides the curves on the ez bar can cause the bar to roll off your back since its not balanced for that type of use.

A previous thread on this site mentioned doing Zercher Squats with an EZ-curl bar. Maybe you could try them.

for some reason, front squats evaded me...I guess im used to doing front squats with a full bar across the clavicles. not holding them down by the chest. I have asthma that really constricts my diaphram and breathing if I hold anything close to my chest doing exercises. Good suggestion Matt.

A hack squat seems like the best choice. Putting that thing on your shoulders, especially without a rack, can't be safe. There's also a squat where you stradle the bar between your legs and hold it with one hand in front and one hand in back, but I can't remember the name.

Of course, you could also try Overhead Squats. It just might be a little difficult to ballance with a short barbell.

It's called the Jefferson Lift

Doing them with a short bar like the E-Z-curl would be a real problem

Matt's idea of a Zercher is probably the best solution, unless you have dumbbells

I do lunges with the ez curl bar here at home...never tried squatting, as getting it up on my shoulders from the ground with any reasonable amount of weight would be 5x harder than the weight I use lunges for.

Hmmm ... Jefferson Squats might not be such a good idea if you have short arms. Ouch!
