Someone suggested doing a narrower grip on the deadlift to get stronger on the lower back. My questions are is this true and how narrow should I be gripping the bar.
Thanks

All deadlift forms will strengthen the lower back.

For a sumo-style deadlift you could have your hands touching, if you wanted. But for a conventional deadlift, they have to be at least outside the legs.

In my current workout, I'm using a wide (snatch) grip deadlift off a 4-6" box to emphasize my rear chain more.
