I know that using caffeine can lead to addiction, but if I only use caffeine monday, tuesday, wednesday, and saturday will I get addicted to it still? the reason why im asking this is because I simpoly dont wanna use more and more each time before workouts to get the same effect. I drink 1 starbucks coffee, black 10 minutes to 1 hour before working out. If I cycle it like the days above, then will I be fine?

Also, my favorite shake so far has been muscle milk in the bottles they sell... Its only got 3g of sugar but loads of stuff in it like protein, fats, electrolytes, and vitamins, and even minerals. Is this a good option to use for protein or are there better options?

More that about 6 cups of coffee a day can cause some physical withdrawl sysmptoms. That varies for each person but if I keep under that amount, I don't get headaches from stopping. When I used to drink 10 cups/day, I did get the headaches. That was back when the office I worked in had a bottomless coffee pot. I usually don't drink coffe past lunch time. If you are able to go for a day or more, once in a while, with no coffee, you're not addicted. A casual coffee drinker will get all the caffiene you need from 1 Starbucks.

Caffeine has a physical dependency aspect, not an addiction aspect. You won't 'fiend' for it like you would a typical drug, you simply just may get headaches if you abruptly stop use.

Out of all the drugs on the planet, I'd say caffeine is probably the safest one.

Caffeine has revolutionised my workouts. I have it pure before working out and off days I don't have a thing with caffeine in, don't drink fizzy drinks or tea/coffee.

i've gone coffee cold turkey for the last 6 days after realising i was drinking up to three espresso style coffees a day. it's a vicious cycle - can't sleep because of the caffeine so you need more caffeine to stay awake...

i experienced some nasty, nasty headaches, and some less than convenient mood swings (i hope that was withdrawal). on the upside i have saved lots of money.

that said, i'm going to return to what you're doing very soon - 1 black coffee and hour before workouts - i've found it helps, though i'll be cycling it to coincide with strength/power activities, as (i suspect because of caffeine's diuretic properties) i found i became thirsty faster when doing running/enduro. YMMV.

like i've read about many dependencies, i found myself missing the ritual. which consistent of leaving the office to buy the drink. hmm... leaving office.
