I know this seems off the charts mind blowing but I went to the dentist the other day and I ended up reading an article that completely makes crazy sense.

Your dental hygiene plays a huge part in your body and has links to some diseases that we as people who exercise try to prevent with our activities in the gym our diet and our lifestyles.

Bad dental hygiene can lead to diabetes heart disease to name a couple. The reason why older people that have had hip replacements or knee replacement or heart surgery have to take antibiotics before a visit to the dentists is to combat any bacteria that may be in the mouth.

With all that being said I am currently going to school to become a personal trainer with my associates and getting my ACE certification and I did NOT realize dental was something we should consider while trying to prevent certain diseases. That is mind boggling to me and I wanted to share that with everyone.

John

John, it's especially important for young people to realize that preventing gum disease is critical. Once it sets it, all you can do is mitigate the damage. For us old guys that have already experienced it, we can never get back to the place we would have been if we had taken better care of our gums when we were younger.

Yea they say flossing should be done everytime you brush your teeth. From what the dentist said was that it prevents in between the teeth cavities.

Heart disease and other illness' can be caused by the bacteria in your mouth spreading through your blood stream. It's just crazy to me of course the body is all connected but thats just crazy.

Apparently the bacteria and viruses that enters through your mouth can cut years off your life, chiefly through heart disease. That's why it's prevention that matters so much. If you never get gingivitis in the first place, you're protectd from that bacteria. Once it has a foothold in the body, it's there even if you resolve the problem in your mouth.

Well. You wonder why people with horrible teeth are also usually pretty sickly. It makes sense in the craziest ways. My dad lost all his teeth and never took care of them and he had his first heart attack at like 38!

I'm factually the healthiest person in my family and hope heart disease doesn't come my way. I definitely take care of myself but that is so scary there is also the chance of mouth cancer so it is good to get screenings for that....Sometimes the fact we stay healthy and stay alive is just amazing with what seems like everything thats out there to get us.

It seems dental health is like an early indicator of overall health. Without trying to sound like a Weston A Price disciple, what's good for your teeth and gums is also good for your body.
