I approve of the use of the most excellent word "picayune"
You know, people sometimes say "my two cents" when relaying their opinion, and this currency
is apparently worth over double the amount.
So I say we should take it back. Much like 'trivial' (listed as a synonym). Trivial Pursuit is awesome, why is it a pejorative?
but i also would've accepted "punctilious" or "pedantic"
Also I think 'pedant' meant 'teacher' or something. 'Sophist' meant someone knowledgeable. So much language founded on contrasted sarcasm.
Punctilious is a new word to me, but seems based on this
which could arguably be a good trait, at least until some gets ahold of it and equate it to be 'nitpicky' or whatever. Which is another good example, since the removal of nits is a valid and healthy thing.
