I tried to do some research, but I didn't find anything from a source I'd trust.

I don't think anyone has really tested strength training.

Those benefits in the list you gave seem like speculation since they would be hard to test and irrelevant anyway. The only thing that matters are impact on health, performance, muscle and fat. Does anyone really can about the rest of it?

i did it for a while and really liked it. Dropped a bit of fat and gained a bit of muscle.

Some people work better on an empty stomach, some don't. I usually skip breakfast and almost always go to the gym on an empty stomach. I have no idea if it helps or hurts my progress but I suspect that it doesn't matter one way or the other. However, for some people, maybe it does.

I think less peopple do it because food tastes really good.
I lost fat on "Eat Stop Eat", but also, progressed slower. I have trouble getting enough protein, especially in smaller windows.

I like doing it in small doses. I also train at differnt times so scheduling the fasting period is tough.

good question. I think the whole "6 meals a day" thing is just too ingrained in people's psyche.

It depends on how you like to eat. I find it easier to eat 3 or 4 huge meals, as opposed to loads of little ones, so it suited me fine. I think some people struggle to hit their macros in such a small window (assuming the leangains 16/8 approach)

Yea, I find the 6 meals thing questionable. It's not like a meal goes through your system at the same time regardless of size. The idea behind it seems to ignore the fact that gastric emptying happens at a particular rate. The more food you have in there, the longer this takes. You know how it is, you totally stuff yourself at the lunch buffet, and you're still a little full at dinner time.

I do it now and again and feel no difference in energy levels. I've been doing the leangains 16/8 and have lost bodyfat without even meaning to. Suits me perfectly, I often go long periods without eating, I always thought it was damaging progress when I was younger. When I eat, I tend to eat massive meals too. Tomorrow I'll be training on a protein shake and water after fasting all day because I'm having a shake before bed now. Normally I try eat around 10 so I can have lunch the next day.

I've been training fasted with the leangains 16/8 much like Nevage for the past year now. I find that hunger pangs can at times make the idea of training seem more daunting, but once I actually start training I'm able to kick it into gear quite normally. It's had an effect on my ability to make gains rapidly (no doubt because it's difficult to pack 6 000 calories into only 8 hours) but I also didn't have to diet down any to look lean and athletic with my shirt off in Cuba. Hell, I ate a box of donuts waiting in the airport on my way down!

Hi guys, I'm thinking of trying this! After almost 12 months of calorie restricted dieting ad exercise to lose 25kg+ I'm finding that my will power/motivation to eat less is waning as I lift weights! I have a friend who is a personal trainer and has been doing Eat Stop Eat/Lean Gains "lifestyle" Since 2009 and has seen huge benefits! He blogs at www.jameskerrison.com! Dude is strong, dead lifts 220kgx5 at 70kg bodyweight! I won a copy of the third ed. of Eat Stop Eat from Jame's website, will read it and give a review soon!

somewhat on topic:
Does anyone else find that they sweat more if they train fasted? on occasion, if i had a big dinner or something, i train fasted, since i workout within an hour or so of waking up; but i always pour sweat, everything is normal if i get some food in me though.

Talking about fasting. I read an interesting negative opinions about fasting from John Kiefer. Even if I don't maybe totally agree with him, it's good to have something to think about.
