This may sound like a silly question and it certainly feels like one, but I work out at home, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any downsides to doing your workouts in your underwear.

The first time you lay on your bench it might be cold against bare skin. That's about it though.

Dropped weights. Nipple burn. Bar stripping (this is what I call it when the knurling on the bar strips the top, or even lower, layers of skin off), sweat management.

all of these come to mind as good reasons to wear clothing while working out.

Ironman, I figured as much, thanks for the reply.

Khronos, thanks for the help. I should have mentioned that "naked" doesn't mean no footwear, otherwise I'd be doing some sort of a paleo workout. Even so, I'd reckon dropped weights crush fingers all the same. And I can understand the "bar stripping" issue, but fortunately I don't use barbells. On the other hand, sweat management was actually my main issue with this, but I use a towel whenever I lay down on something, and I find it much more convenient to wash towels than sets of workout gear.

I don't think it is a silly question at all. Many people feel different comfort levels depending on what they wear (or don't wear in your case!).

Just wondering, do you feel you get a better workout if you wear less clothes? If so I'd say the positive outweighs the negative!
