Hello
I'm a figure competor from New Zealand, so as you would know I'm very passionate and serious about about bodybuilding, so if anyone could advise me with my issue, I would much appreciate your time and personal advise.

When performing bicep curls, b/b curls, any type of isolation bicep exercises, my right shoulder and right trap is lifting up towards my ear, like I'm doing a shrug, I do experience a slight pain I my right forearm, Ive never had this problem before.
When doing chin ups, pull ups, lateral pull downs etc, no pain is felt in right arm
Please help as I'm getting ready for a show in August 2014 and don't want this to hold me back from hitting the stage.
I do get regular massaging once a week, not that she is sure what the problem is apart from stress she says, I'm relaxed and wanting to train heavy and hard and improve
I do get pain in my scalene muscles on the left side, but doesn't stop me from doing any type of exercises

Thank you all

@signalp:

Are you lifting heavy with your bicep curls? It's better to strictly curl a lower weight than to cheat a weight up with body english

No not heavy compared to what I normally do
I believe in focus on the the muscle I'm working
Not going heavy to lose control

@signalp:

You mentioned doing vertical pulling motions (pull ups, pull downs) without any problems with your right side. What about horizontal pulling (in particular dumbbell rows)?

@signalp:

If your shoulder is sore, the culprit could be bicep tendonitis. The tendon of the long head of the biceps crosses the front of the shoulder.

This doesn't seem like a problem that can be solved in an internet forum. If bicep curls are causing you problems, don't do them until you know what the problem is. Supinated (undergrip) pulling exercises can give the biceps as good a workout as curls
