When going super heavy weight with closegrip how much shoulder and chest involment there is in your opinion?


I have this tennis elbow problem. I got to point where it was impossible to do any tricep movement, but at that point I could see which exercises hurt and which not.

I couldn't do latpulldowns, couldn't do barbell curls. couldn't do normal tricep extensions but I could do barbell shrugs with 300lbs without hurting elbows or any rows. So i kept week brake and it recovered but tricep extension in any tool triggered pain again so I stopped.

Only 2 exercises which didn't hurt my triceps at that same particular training was close grip bench and dipmachine with arms touching your sides. Only problem dipmachine was out of weights.

So now I'm forced to do close grip bench only. Problem is I feel it might be too taxing on chest/shoulders which I have in seperate day.

Bodyweight Dips aren`t possible?

Concerning your question about how much chest and shoulders are involved when doing CGBP... I won`t guess or give an opinion... ;) I`d rather ask why you don`t adress your injury properly... Did you go to a doctor?

Our gym got have V shape. in straight I could do like | | but I feel dip is maybe bit more for front delts or at least that's where I feel it most. In closegrip I can really feel triceps as long as I pull bar as down as I can.

Nope never went doctor. I don't think it's fixable. I mean in certain exercises it just triggers again, so I won't just do them. It triggers in all isolation exercises but at 80%+ weight of 1rep max.
