Post subject:  hernia or some other strain?

I have had this issue I am not sure is a hernia, but 95% of the time I experience no pain. I know I need to go to the doctor and have it looked at, but just assume for this post that it is not possible.

The first outset of this problem happened when I was lifting a box of weights too quickly and felt a pull in my lower abdomen/groin area. This was probably about two years ago. Since then, the only things that really seem to cause problems are maximal/near maximal sprints (sometimes kettlebell swings beforehand makes it worse when sprinting). And typically it requires more than one "rep" of it for it too happen. I fell a pull in my lower stomachy area that seems to be able to alleviated sometimes through heavy breathing. And typically it hurts for a few days in the lower abdomen/groin area but then the next week I'm fine. But a couple of days ago...I decided to do several max sprints with my dog, and it hurts even more than usual.

I should mention that typically a few days later I am able to lift heavy, even lower body, without any issues. I can run at jogging/fast jogging paces without issues. I recently moved and lifted heavy boxes and furniture all day and felt zero amount of pain from the move in regard to this issue. My mother and brother both had hernias, and from what they describe, I should be in more pain in doing these other activities.

I plan on taking a couple of months off from anything in regards to heavy lower body lifting and sprints. Here's my question through all of this - are there exercises I should start to do in about a month to help strengthen this area? I was thinking things like leg raises and mountain climbers...just wanted some advice.

Well... I think you probably know best about your own body! Why won't you get it looked at?

Had a hernia earlier this year. No idea how I got it but definitely felt a lump in my lower groin. Thought it was a swollen lymph node, but then I held it and coughed and felt it bulge painfully. Went to the urgent care doc and he looked at me for like 2 minutes and was like "yup, textbook hernia".

Doesn't hurt to get it looked at. Hernias are extremely common in active men and pretty routine surgery to correct.
