Hey guys here are some pics of my sei-homemade squat rack, the majority of the work was done by whoever assembles Telstra's (an Austrlian telephone company) exchanges, they were pulled out when an upgrade took place about 4 years ago and I got them from my father-in-law along with the rest of the steel! Total cost for bolts, cutting wheels for my grinder and a set square to get the angles rigt was $34 AUD (Australian dollars), so not too expensive! The bench you'll see in one photo I picked up brand new for $100 AUD and my bar (2nd hand) and weight plates (new) were $265 AUD!

Hmmm...

I would re-think the bolts that hold the bar, they look like they would bend when re-racking a decent weight and cause the bar to fall. You need a few sets of proper heavy duty brackets.

Desperatley needs safety bars. Maybe bolt a chin-up bar to it too?

When thats all done, should be fine.

Rik the Bolts are 13mm High Tensile, they're good for weights up to about 750kg, I don't think I'll be squatting that any time soon! The Chin Up bar is already in the works and so are the safety bars! I'm only squatting 55kg at the moment and I'm squatting outside of the cage so the safety bars are low priority right now! I have matting I put down when squatting so that if I need to drop the bar I can, not really much different to safety bars really, I know plenty of people who just use stands where there's not even a possibility of safety bars and that works fine!

Wow, that looks really cool. I would definitely like to have something like that at my house too. If I want some physical exercise I always visit the local fitness center but sometimes it is hard to brace myself up in order to go there. Prospectively I want my own little fitness center because then I can do my exercises at home.
