I can't help you with a source but you can achieve the same effect with weighted glute bridges. You can do them single legged or with your foot in a suspension trainer to make them harder.

I do not feel anything from glute bridges. I have been doing barbell hip thrusts which seems to be the only exercise that I can feel in my glutes.

That's why I said weighted. A weighted Glute Bridge and a barbell hip thrust become the same thing once you get heavy enough. You can do them one leg at a time if you want. You can also do them with a resistance band and duplicate the same motion as with that expensive machine.

I suppose it depends on how important it is to you. It's obvious Louis Simmons though it important enough to come up with a machine like that. I know the Reverse Hyper machine has uses but for a home application, I can think of better uses for that kind of money. I'm just giving you some low cost ways to work your glutes. It's up to you to decide if one is a replacement for the other.

Wow, I must be a cheap SOB, but I only see about $300 in steel and bearings. Then maybe a couple of hours to cut and weld (if only doing 1).

Why so expensive.

But more importantly, it's huge (almost the size of a power cage).

I think the cost is due to the limited interest in such a machine. Only really hardcore powerlifting gyms are going to want one and they'll probably come up with the funds. I saw somebody had plans for a homemade adaptation to a power cage that worked for reverse hypers.

I guess I will continue to do hip thrusts. There is no way I am going to spend that much.
