Which of the following brands of exercise equipment do you prefer?

I am performing a study for a class that I am currently enrolled in on my way to getting my B.S. in Kinesiology. This will not even take a minute of your time and you would be doing me a huge favor!

For those of you that have previously used one of the following brands of exercise equipment:

Cybex
Precor
Lifefitness
Vectra

Which one do you prefer?
If you have time, additional comments about your preference are appreciated!

I've used Cybex. It's alright, but not real impressed. I have not used the other 3 as far as I remember. For the combination lever/pulley machines I have used Nautalis. I'm not a fan of those kind of machines in general though. I prefer cable, lever, or sled. I've used a lot of Hammer Strength machines of those varieties. They're pretty nice. I've used Flex Fitness machines too, which are also pretty nice.

I think what really matters in a machine is how well it emulates real world movements.

Add in another vote for none, or mostly none. The barbell is king.

My gym has exclusively Hammer Strength machines, and the only one I like is the rowing (not to be confused with the low row).

Otherwise I much prefer pulley/cable for things like pulldowns.

Freemotion makes a nice cable machine. It's about the only machine I ever use.

I love all cables, and hammer strength machines are pretty good. Never used any of the ones on your list though

What is the purpose of the study?

I can't imagine what the preference of any of these brands would have to do with kineosiology.

Any choice of preference has more to do with marketing than kineosiology.

Cybex is a good brand with fairly good service.

Precor is a good brand with great service. They value the customer.

Life Fitness is a good brand with terrible service.

Vectra is a very good brand with good service.

There are other majory brand that should have been includes on your survey.

Free Motion is fairly good product.

Ironically, Free Motion is part of of ICON. ICON is "The Leader" in garbage.

ICON makes/sells Proform, Weslo, Nordic Track, Rebook, Image, Weider, Gold's Gym, etc. You find it at Sears, K-Mart, Walmart, Dick's, etc.

While Free Motion is a fairly good product, their service is a black hole.

Original Nautilus

The original Nautilus make by Arthur Jones was good quailty equipment.

New Nautilus

Jones sold it long ago. The New Nautilus is a different animal.

The quality is questionable and the service rivals ICON.

Gear Trends Mangazine, a fitness equipment magazine for retailers, won the "Worst Service" catatory for a number of consecutive years, back to back to back.

In the last survey Natilus garnered a 40% in the "Worst Service" category. No other company came
close!

The commercial division isn't any better.

Hammer is part of Life Fitness. Hammer is a good product.

Hammer was Gary Jones' (Arthur's son). Gary sold it to Life.

Life Fitness has good equipment and very poor service.
