Maybe I don't travel enough but most of the hotels I've visited have a very limited exercise room. The skimpiest have only a treadmill. Most have some sets of dumbbells, benches and some universal gyms.

However, I did find one that actually had a barbell power cage c/w decent plates. So when I was there, I actually got one good session of workout on my two week vacation.

This hotel is the Rydges Esplanade at Cairns, Australia.

I travel a lot for 4 months every 2 years, and few hotels have an even acceptable exercise room. Some recently have had a deal with a near-by commercial gym for their patrons to work out. That's much better. If they don't, I just find a commercial gym and pay their day fee rather than miss a workout.

Let me complete your sentence.

...would be awesome.

But yea a commercial gym is a good way to go. If you belong to a big chain like Gold's you can use any of them with your card. Unless it's a franchise, then you need to get pass from your location.

I took a cruise a few years back, and there was a halfway decent gym on the ship. Dumbbells were not quite heavy enough. So I just had my wife push on them a little, kind of like a reverse spot.

I travel all the time. There are few decent gyms in hotels and resorts. Like Doc said, some have agreements with local gyms. I buy day passes all the time. It is actually fun to go lift and scare the locals.

That's funny. They just look at me and ask, "Is he for real?"

Keep lifting. It'll happen. It helps to be part Sasquatch.

Becoming a Sasquatch is definitely on my agenda. I have to retire when I hit 60 and as long as Sasquatchs come in grey, I'm in.
