Having proportional strength in the muscles that flex and extend the elbow is probably good for the stability of the joint. But most people probably have some imbalance. Shotputters probably have stronger triceps while rowers probably have stronger biceps.
I don't do much isolation work for arms, either. I can usually handle more weight with triceps exercises than I can with biceps exercises. But since I've focused on supinated chins/pulldowns/rows for training biceps, the gap has narrowed
