Not to get too political or outragous but, what did the brave men die in Vietnam for? Why are americans dieing in Irag? For freedom, liberty and democarcy right? (At least that is what they have always told us.) We, America just took a huge step away from free capital markets, and a nice lunge to total socialism.

I wasn't a supporter of the bailout when I first heard of it, but from what I've been reading it could have been worse had the govt. not done anything. And what pisses me off the most, is the bill didn't pass the House "as-was", instead they had to add more crap to it and run it thru the House again. For instance a tax break to arrow manufacturers.

It's gonna take us 20+years to fix this crap ... that's what it took the Japanese. Essentially the same thing happened to them during the 80's. I could rant all day about politicians and their knee jerk decisions, and the things they could have prevented earlier (ie. Bin Laden, Fannie Mae, etc.)

I don't like it either but doing nothing probably would have been worse. They did say that CEO's would have to take pay cuts when any senior management does. They also said the highest paid person can't make for than 25 times what the lowest paid makes. This should stop CEO's from being rewarded for being retarded and increase share holder profits. When the stocks recover we should end up with a nice profit. So this could end up working out in the long run.

Of course moving to Sweden or Norway may be appealing in the future.

Yes. The federal government should limit how much money we can make. Let's put a cap on how rich is too rich and then each year let's lower the cap.

I'll want to get a on a plane to europe and live there if John Mccain ends up winning. It's ing how ignorant people are, blindly voting for John Mccain solely for being a republican and not voting for Obama because he's black. All these people still voting for him must be overlooking all the things he's done on this campaign trail. (Sarah Palin, lies, changing his stance on certain political issues (ex. deregulation), etc)

Guys head to Australia! Our home loan rates just went down 1%, that's BIG for a single drop! Given though they have risen 4% in the last 12 months, but a decrease is a good sign! Plus it's going to help the Asian markets get a bit stronger so the South East Asaia/Australasia region is a good economic spot at the moment compared to North America and Europe!

As for McCain,I was talking to an ex-marine who is now a contractor in Kuwait for a private heavy armour security service and he's voting McCain because Republican is the way of the good soldier! However he's not completely sold on McCain and said Obama may swing his vote democrat but he'd never admit it to his friends and family for fear they would hate him! What a world man, what a world!

If I were American I'd be voting for Obama 1) Because he's had less time in politics to become corrupted, 2) His policies on health, though they will expensive for the US tax payer, will lay a foundation for the process to be far less expensive in the future whereas McCains $5,000 on off payment to get private cover is just dumb and perpetuates the health issues already being seen and lastly 3) The Democrats got cheated out of the last 2 elections by Daddy Bush's friends helping out W Bush so that he could plumet the country from a $99-billion surplus in 1998 to the current circumstances!

First on Obama's list should be imputting an exit strategy for Iraq that has them out by the end of 2009 and keeping out of other people's arguments too! Without a War going on somewhere the USA could really help out their own people wiht a decent public health care system, increasing funding in schools (espescially nutrition in the cafateria) and using a few % of the defense budget on more worthwhile things to give the tax payers a break!

Just my 2 cents as an outside observer!

LOL, I'm loving your input John. As a non-US resident/voter, you seem to have more insight into our political situation than 90 [ercent of our registered voters, and that's sad. I tend to agree with you, and I'm a libertarian leaning Republican, i.e fiscally conservative, socially somehat centrist-liberal.

I can sum it up without an essay; blatant lies and dredging up dead issues from the past that have already been discussed and cleared. Looks like Rove's tactic's are aliv and well and the old 2000 Maverick McCain has died and been buried.

Well Mccain did absolutely nothing to help himself in that debate. He didn't keep his composure that well at times and sounded childish. The debate was dissapointing in general but at least Obama kept his composure.

McCain has reached the point of desperation. His judgment is pretty bad too. He picked a total retard to run with him.

Actually in all fairness calling Palin a retard is very offensive, to hard working and intelligent handicapped people everywhere, it's very rarely they get pucked for their looks like she did! She's almost like McCain had a brain freeze and thought he was supposed to pick a new trophy wife!

Anyway, Australia is undergoing a ressurection of sorts since our last Prime Minister, who was so far up W Bush's a$$ he could lick his lips for him, got voted out wages have gone up, spending on schools has increased and 'cost of living' items such as groceries and fuel (not his doing, the international price of oil dropped!) have come down! Housing loan interest rates went up, but they were on their way up when the new goevernment took over, in less than a year the rates are on their way back down again! A change of party like Autralia had could be just what the doctor ordered for the USA!

It could alos plummet them in to a depression that erases the memory of The Great Depression, who knows with politicians, eh?
