We should all make a food guide similar to, the canadian food guide. But that's actually good.

I remember seeing a food guide made by harvard university. It's allot better than the canadian food guide lol

Exrx already has this: http://www.exrx.net/Nutrition.html

As well we have the stickies in the forum.

The problem is that everyone has a different idea of what is correct. I tend to follow this: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/the-defi ... ting-plan/

here's a picture of a low-carb pyramid:

I don't really agree with ExRx on saturated fats.

They don't mention anything good about it...

There are a couple of things I disagree with too. Saturated fats is definately one of them. The other big one is low fat in general. Dairy as a source of calcium is another. I also eat less grains and less PUFAs (Omega 6) than recommended.

The most important rule, and one I don't see emphasised enough is to eat real food. Most people don't seem to even know what real food is.

Genetic modifications are usually to make stuff better or bigger or whatever. I don't think that's the problem so much as processing food to where the bulk of what we eat is stuff we did not evolve to eat.

It all seems to boil down to selling corn and oil for huge profits.

Here's a pretty good description of "Real Food".
http://lifespotlight.com/health/2008/06 ... real-food/

On the subject of GM foods, the downside is larger than I thought at first. The more you look into this subject the worse it looks.

Time out. Where do Twizzlers fit? I am hoping at the bottom so I can eat bunches of them.

I'm pretty sure twizzlers are a vegetable, just like asparagus or Pocky. You can eat as much as you want of them. The strawberry ones also count as a serving of fruit.

Okay. Good. Because I've been known to eat a pound in a sitting.
