Is anyone else glad the Olympics are over? I'm glad Canada did well and especially proud of home town boy Sidney Crosby for getting the Gold medal winning goal, but I'm glad this is over.

I'm so proud right now, to be Canadian, Whooaaah! That hockey game was epic!

I'm curious as to what American's are feeling right now, They got silver! I'm sure some of them feel so $h1t but I don't see anything wrong with second place.

I imagine it's like our women's curling. In both cases it could have gone either way.

My two favorite sports were curling and figure skating, and I'm a young American male. Huh.

I was actually rooting for Canada

Hockey is a novelty sport. Most people don't really care. Sure we would like to be first but that is because we like to be first in everything. There is a reason why the NHL isn't on any network or major cable network in the US.

Did any of them look happy? At all?

Getting silver is like getting second place in the Stanley Cup finals. They'll be proud of it eventually, but it's going to hurt for a long time before then. You have to lose to get silver.

that is actually pretty region dependent. The detroit michigan area is more into hockey than football. I would imagine that there are other areas that are similar.

Hockey's pretty important in Canada, sort of like Football in Texas.

debatably, yes - although football (NFL and NCAA) here has had a tough stretch these last few years... Hockey is huge here; all day on sports talk radio it was about how much we all hate Sidney Crosby (Cindy).

My (Canadian) wife (for about the 17th time): "Did you know that Canada won gold in hokey?"
Me: "Yeah. I know."
Wife: "Did you know that they got more gold medals than the US?"
Me: "Yeah, I noticed."
Wife: "More gold than anyone."
Me: "Yeah.
Wife: "Did I mention this before?"
Me: "Yeah, I think so. I heard it somewhere."
Wife: "I think it's pretty nice that Canada did well."
Me (trying to force some excitement into my voice): "Yeah. Nice. Real nice."

Between the Canadians and Americans, we won 63 medals. That 25% of all the medals. Next time it's in Russia. Maybe the Europeans will do better.

Dunno, i think Europe did pretty good... 143 medals. 119 if you include only 'old europe'. Especially Germany and Norway did good. Ofcourse, medals are divided up over more countries, rather than just two. I thought Russia was disappointing, and so was china! Korea on the other hand did great, very surprising.

Personally, i was most happy with the Dutch snowboarding gold... Given that we have neither mountains or snow here.
