The following 2 books cover a broad area and include periodization as one part.

Supertraining by Siff & Verkhoshansky

Science and practice of strength training By Vladimir M. Zatsiorsky, William J. Kraemer



There is also lots of information on the internet. Check the sites of leaders in your field. For example in powerlifting, you will want to read articles by Fred Hatfield, Louis Simmonds, Dave Tate, Kenny Croxdale etc.
