are their protein shakes any good? what's the general consensus on this brand?

If you can get your protein requirements (1g-1.5g per 1# body weight) then protein powders little benefit. Most people have to use protein powders to get the protein in. They are convenient.

I eat 1.5g per 1# bw and I aim to get 2/3 of my protein from whole food sources.

Edit: looks like I misunderstood the question. I know nothing of that brand, but I would advise not to try to save $ on anything you ingest.

Just a side note, most Americans eat more than enough protein. Even for athletes, it shouldn't be a problem if you eat a bit of meat.

If you eat protein as stated (0.8g/kg) in article posted by Ryan, you will crtainly meet your bodies needs.

Yep, George. I've seen the .8 gr/kg before, and as I recall, it's close to the USRDA. I've also note that most sports nutritionist recommend something closer to .8 gr/LB of lean bodyweight on the low end, to about 1 gr/ LB bodyweight on the high end. Some even recommend more, but while I don't think more will hurt in the least, I think it might be a bit overkill.

Yeah I am not sure on their brand, I dont have a Max Muscle in my area so I have never bought from them. I would like to hear how it is though, if someone has tried them.

I'd have to go back and research, but if my memory serves me correct, it has a heck of a lot of fat in it. I think that is why I always stear clear of them.
