The random crap thread is getting kind of long. We have a winter storm on the way. It's been just rain so far this year. I understand the storm is in Virginia right now.

Tim, what's happening down there?

Hey Stu, most snow we've had here in the beach in years. Probably will set a record. Not bad by most peoples standard's, 5-8 inches accumulated, but here in Va Beach, the city and VDOT just aren't set up for snow removal. Right now it's not bad, because the temps are hanging around 32 F, but it's supposed to dip into the 20's tonight, and if that happens, it'll freeze, and we'll be in lockdown for a few days until the sun can do it's thing. Might make the city and VDOT rethink their snow removal capabilities.

That is a lot for you. I read on the internet that Virginia has had over 200 car accidents so far.

Yeah on the accidents. Most people down here aren't used to snow and or ice, and couple that with no snow removal except the Interstates, it's causing a mess. Most all business are shut down until at least Tues.

In NJ it's been snowing since noon. All my shovels are in my Grandmas garage, which is about 15 minutes away in nice weather.

Ugh. I can hardly think about making the trek in today. I better leave early because of the weather. Sunny and 60 - yuck!

Footnote: I decided to break out my winter gear. I'm wearing my longsleeve shirt.

It was sunny and 32-34C on Christmas day, rainy and humid yesterday, wet with a max of 20C today (felt bloody cold).

Hummmm. I'm at about a foot in some areas with drift, and it isn't stopping yet

Well the storm seems to have come and gone. About 3 inches of wet snow. Not worth shoveling. It will be gone by tomorrow.

Stu, do the Maritimes get a lot of snow? Or is it similar to the west coast?

Makes me think of days gone by--not in a good way!

I have put in my quota of years in snow country (Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Eastern Washington, Idaho, North Dakota) so now I'm allowed to stay in warm, balmy places! All the rest of you--enjoy! Have fun shoveling, sliding, or (better yet) stay home by the fire.

Clear blue skies, I can see a bit of snow on the mountains. The lake is as blue as the sky. Our first round of cherry blossoms (first of three) just past. Set for a high of 59 (15c) today. I think I'll head to town for a latte and a pizza. Sometimes I have to pinch myself... am I still in China?

They do, especially Moncton and PEI, but in Halifax it's mostly rain. It has to do with where the water is.
