But in all seriousness I did take it as mostly a joke but not completely. So I got it as you intended it and then played along. I do of course think I was right or I wouldn't have continued in those arguments. I suppose it was a sort of subconscious challenge too, but mainly just joking.

Well, I generally enjoy discussions of social issues, but it's best in a face-to-face situation with a moderately sized group of knowledgeable, open-minded people.

Ah, you want to hear what I think about Wisconsin, eh? Well, I'm definitely for the teachers and collective bargain rights. I'll give you a direct quote of what I said when that law went through. I said "Scott Walker is a cancerous tumor on the anus of humanity". I went on to say "he's the crusted $h1t stains on the underwear of a homeless man with dysentery in the slums of Somalia". So I think that pretty well sums it up. It's the "Iron Law of Oligarchy" at work. We have, in recent years, elected some of the most wretched excuses for human beings who have ever held any sort of public office. It's been a truly shameful display. Well, I think Wisconsin learned their lesson. The 60% who were none to happy about all this, will keep it in mind at the polls. I have no sympathy at all for the people there who are both unhappy about this, AND voted Republican. You vote for fascists, and you get fascism. I don't know why they are surprised...oh wait yes I do...because THEY ARE FV(K!NG STUPID! But that's a a typical human characteristic. As George Carlin once said, "Just think of how stupid the average person is, then realize that half the people are even dumber than that". Words of wisdom, me thinks.

So that's what I think, and I'm sure this surprises nobody.

Haha I was just bumping the thread up with a divisive topic just for @*&! and giggles . But, if this were facebook, I'd definitely like this post. It seemed like Walker was using the union-busting to satisfy an agenda, rather than solving economic problems. Do we give public employees the benefit of the doubt because they perform a service to society, rather than a corporation? Personally, I think so, even though there are limits but we should grant them more benefits because they are in general bettering us and our lives. The only thing I think is, the ones who do poor jobs should be held accountable, and strictly on a case by case basis. The problem is a lot of people want to assume if a school is doing bad, it has bad teachers, which it well might have some, but typically there are other factors that come in to play (most underlooked is the school officials themselves). And he bowed to cops and firefighters, but not too teachers. Seems like Walker has a grudge...

Yea I bet he got a lot of crap from teachers when he was in school. Of course Republicans have to be anti-education. Excluding the extremely wealthy, the more educated you are, the less likely you are to vote for a Republican.

Ironman, I find that so interesting, yet ridiculous. I'm sure just about ever Tea Bagger has no idea what Socialism is and that they're taxes have actually gone down. Then you have republicans argueing to democrats that raising taxes by 3 % on less than 90% of the population is gonna make, "Joe," The plumber stay a plumber for the rest of his life. I honestly don't understand how American's can put up with this $h1t.

There is a lot of propaganda here. That's how it happens. Like you say, many people have very little understanding of these things.

I'm glad I don't. Poisonous spiders everywhere, snakes everywhere, sharks everywhere, kangaroos everywhere.

Sharks tend to limit themselves to the water so they're not much of a problem. And even then Sydney beaches have a pretty good shark meshing program in place. Kangaroos are only annoying when they decide to try and cross the road in front of you on some outback road (i.e. it doesn't happen in the cities). Otherwise 'roos are pretty cool. Snakes have pretty much deserted most urban areas (the last time I saw one was when I was 10). And spiders, well, I guess I do see the odd poisonous one in the backyard every now and then but it's not like they're out to get you or anything.

There is the occasional black widow around here, but even worse, we have quite a population of brown recluse spiders. I have someone out to spray 3 times a year to keep them out of the house.
