A very good read. It is presented(by the author) in a manner that makes us less educated people understand what the studies were about and what practical impact they may have.
One quote in there really made me laugh:
That’s right: Rat squats. The authors used an apparatus that was first described in the literature
by Tamaki et al in 1992. (A similar setup was used in this paper by do Cormo et al, which is also worth
looking at.) These rats were highly motivated, as the experimental apparatus incorporates a shock
mechanism that compels the animals to perform the required exercise. (This of course immediately
suggests a useful modification of training platform design for high school and college athletes, but
that was not the focus of this paper.)
