I'm sure everything is connected to everything else, as Dirk Gently taught me so many years ago. If we go by "connection" we can eliminate every research ever done. However, the research was not
funded by said companies so we do not face a clear and direct case of (conflict of) interests .

There is always the possibility of some unknown hidden variable, but in order for your alternative explanation to hold, you have to assume statins takers are also high on Omegs-3, which is not a given. But I don't want to sound like statins salesperson, so everyone is welcome to draw their own conclusions. Me - I keep on taking mine (and Aspirin too).
