I just noticed that in the exercise directory the guy demonstating the lift isn't doing it right. Coming off the floor he just sits up with his legs out straight and places his hand on the floor, instead of pushing off with one leg while rolling to the opposite hip and elbow.

There are 2 styles but as it gets heavier, what you describe gets more important. I don't think anyone that does it with challenging weight does it the way it's pictured. I know learning that was key to my going past 70#.

Yeh, I don't think there is a set-on-stone way of doing the Turkish Get Up, historically anyway. If I remember right you just need to stand up with the weight over head and the rest is details. However, the way you describe which is also the same method that is pushed by the RKC people is the most popular and in my view the best way to perform them. Actually in my view it's the only way you should do them. Not just from a performance perspective but from a safety perspective i.e. it shouldn't really be a weighted sit up to start it.

As an aside, i have a goal on the turkish Get up for end up October, running concurrently with a female clients goal. Actually, she just set me this is a challenge and i've took it on.

I've to get 110lbs and she needs to get 80lbs.

I never used to understand the fuss about Turkish Get Ups. Now, they're creeping up the favourite list, probably exceeding bench press and nipping at the heels of squats and deadlifts.
