I will start this off by saying I am an absolute newb when it comes to whiskey. I'm 40 freaking years old and have rarely touched hard alcohol. I am no prude, though. I've drank enough beer to fill up half of the Gulf of Mexico. Beer, for some sad reason, has just simply stopped tasting good for me. It also has gotten to the point I just feel bloated and sleepy when I drink beer. Having always said I don't like hard spirits... I have discovered I like whiskey.
When I say I like whiskey, it isn't like I sit down and drink half a bottle. No, I like sipping a glass of whiskey and water. I know that is evil to some of y'all, but I don't like it straight or with coke or anything like that. Just strong enough to get a good taste. Then I might have two glasses (talking about 4 shots at the most).
So, I have found I am not a fan of Scotch whiskey. The Irish whiskey I've had (Sheep's dip) just tasted dirty to me. I have found I enjoy the Canadian whiskey and Kentucky bourbon. I, like probably everyone else, enjoy the Crown Royal line - Black, Blue, Cask. I've tried Seagram's VO - not a fan. I seem to favor Jim Beam as a good standbye. I am okay with Jack. I really liked Knob Creek, but it is a touch expensive.
I'm on a journey. Give me some ideas to try.
