It really depends on the fighters. Some are strikers by preference and use their grappling for defense. Others prefer to clinch and/or take it to the mat. Personally, I find the clinch and ground game interesting as long as the fighters stay aggressive.

PS) I think you need to know a little bit about grappling to apreciate the grappling aspect of MMA ... otherwise you'll be lost, and probably a little bored. Also, I've met some guys who dislike grappling because they're homophobic and immature.

There are no agressive fighters on the ground (from what I saw). There is the start of the match and the end. They can be agressive at the beginning, but later... it's all just lying down there. K-1 is much more interesting.
P.S. Well, I am homophobic and I think that that is normal in societies where exists some kind of moral, but talking about that would be spamming...

Randy Couture was always pretty aggressive on the ground and in the clinch.

Eddie Alvarez vs. Shinya Aoki
tonight, Bellatore Fighting.

Aoki schooled Eddie in a ring, but the cage will give more advantage to the striking of Eddie. Aoki is amazing if he can catch you.

I've often wondered why you don't see more hip throws and hip sweeps from the Over-Under Clinch. It would seem like a pretty obvious option, since both fighters already have one overhook and one underhook.

yes, indeed.
Fought a great fight. I echoe Rogan when I told my wife "Henderson's leg kicks will be the key to his victory" That and Diaz struggles against strong guys.

I wish BJ would stay retired. He doesn't owe me anything, I think he should quit acting as if he's really taking it seriously. He had more talent than anyone in the day before everyone was training like putting food on the table depended on it. He generally surrounds himself with yes men instead of getting into a real camp that will sharpen him. He's got the legacy, the money and while he would like to recapture his glory, he's still gasses in round 2. Train like a man.

watch out for the Blackzillions.

I often wonder how much living in Hawaii holds him back. If he lived somewhere like Vegas he could train with other high-level fighters year-round. Also, BJ doesn't seem interested in learning anything new. His boxing and BJJ are very good, but what about his kicks, wrestling, etc.?

yes.
Uses a different style of kicks, striking with the lead leg.
Used to fight at Light Weight, got schooled by Cerrone, now hes a featherweigt
He usually brings it and fights a fan pleasing style. Not sure if he has a ground game... my recall is not so good.

Is it just me or did Rampage Jackson and Glover Teixeira both look pretty slow last night, especially on takedowns and takedown attempts?
