I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and/or whichever winter solstice holiday you prefer. I think it's Christmas though as virtually everyone here is a Christian or former Christian, as far as I know.

It's not that this is the time of year for family, friends, kindness, and generosity, so much as it is the time to renew our commitment to these things, as we carry on celebrating them year round. It's also of course a good reason to eat, drink, and be merry, as if we needed one.

In Melanesian Pidgin, it looks like mispelled English: "Meri Krismas!"

Or I could expand it to say, "Meri Krismas lo' yu na famli b'long yu.
(Merry Christmas to you and your family."
