Do you get any sort of slow down, or have trouble getting through workouts when reducing calories? Does it cause any hunger? Actually, I haven't noticed any problem with that, and I dropped my calorie intake from 2000 per day to 1500, to 1200. Other than that, try 20 carbs a day, no sugar alcohols,...

You are right. It is 100% bollocks. Diet is the main thing. Reducing calories will lower metabolic rate, but so does cardio. That's why we lower carbs, lift weights and do some HIIT. That's a shame. I was hoping I had missed something! Because I was investigating new ways to lose weight. I spent 6 w...

The Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Weight Loss Theory?

Hi People, So, I've been reading about the Resting Metabolic Rate, and what it means in relation to weight loss. The basic principle is that one's body needs 'x' calories per day to function normally. Reducing calorie intake below this number will result in the body having to shut down certain funct...

ok guys, I think you missed my point! For the record, I realise that this show forces people to drop weight in an unhealthy time frame. I have no plans to try anything like that. Let's forget all about the Biggest Loser then. My question is just about the intake of calories vs expenditure. I don't r...

"The Biggest Loser" TV show (Calorie control)

There are no spoilers here, and I am still watching season 6, so please don't post any results from the show without a warning first! Hi everyone, I noticed something interesting that was mentioned during the TV show 'The Biggest Loser', which I'm sure many of you have watched. The basic principle ...

Thanks pdell! By the way, I bought a Sakuraba T-shirt one size too small a few years ago as an incentive to lose weight. Unfortunately it is now about 3 sizes too small, but I am finally on the right tracks at least!!

Hey, that's a great video of the push-ups - Thanks a lot! I have a problem with the 'clean' part of your routine though - I don't really have the confidence to attempt that. It seems like the type of exercise that could definately do damage if performed incorrectly, especially in limited space (even...

Wow - So much advice here already!! Tim, you are right, I need to get a better balance, but I also didn't provide good enough information at the start. I am eating more vegetables that I mentioed at 'dinner' time, but admittedly very little fruit. I will do an overhaul of the diet to include more of...

Thanks for some great advice guys! I actually do have a barbell and an EZ curl bar. My problem is that I don't have the space to use the barbell safely, and nowhere for a bench. In the small room I rent, I have a bed, TV, computer, refrigerator and a piano. But I could definately use the piano stool...

Some advice for a novice planning a workout?

Hello, I started out a healthy eating & exercise program last week to lose weight. I do cardio every day, and 2-3 days each week I plan to include some low volume weight training. The first week I just did some basic exercises that I already knew about – dumbbell curls, shoulder presses, lateral rai...

What, and more importantly, When to eat?

Hi all, I am trying to lose weight and build up some muscle! For the record, I weigh around 280lbs with very little muscle. Of course, the main goal is to get the fat off, but I also want to build up some muscle. I made myself a program that I think is ok, but could be improved. Here is what my day ...
