I'm a hardgainer trying to put on some mass which is more important using the basic lifts like dips,pull-ups, and squats.Or is consuming a lot of calories more important.And I'm not talking about all clean food either.
I have been training using compound lifts for about 2 months exclusively without isolation exercises.Ihave not noticed a big difference in my physique in excluding the isolatin lifts.I will continue to train using the big basics.

Personally i prefer compound movements because the body was createdto move as a unit so i prefer to train it that way.Isolation exercises to me are for pure cosmetic purpose in my opinion which is to look better.Ifyou are an aspiring bb who competes i can understand why you would use them to enhance...

I love doing pull-ups,my back development went through the roof when i began doing them.Pulldowns can give you a great contraction but they in no way come close to pulling your body vertically into space.

If you are using a bar then you must bring your hands in closer to hit more inner chest and triceps. If you are using db's then start with a neutral grip and rotate your hands to pronated grip at the top.
