Used to love Isaac Asimov’s Foundation when I was a kid… it is a bit of a ‘geeky’ read though.

Richard Adam’s Watership Down, while technically being a children’s book, is an inspired read.

My favourite: George Orwell’s 1984

Stuard... I think you have me confused with the OP which I am not but in similarity with him I do have lagging exercises. For example according to the strength standards my deadlift is relatively better than my squat (I think the long legs thing mentioned earlier may apply to me). I am curious about...

safty bars
No such thing exists for me, the gym I use has only the bare basics of equipment (and somtimes not even that). And before anyone asks: i use this gym because I can use it for free :neu:

You will probably make some spectacular gains when you train your neuro-transmitters and can use the muscle you actually have. Keep working on your form.
Can you elabourate on this?

Dangerous moments in the gym?

Nearly came a cropper in the gym today; I'm sure plenty of you guys have also got tales of mishaps in the gym? I was doing the last set of squats at top weight and expected to get three reps out. After coming up from the second rep I was seeing stars and really should have left it at that: instead I...

Raw eggs

Occasionally I eat eggs raw – it’s quick and simple with no mess or fuss; do you guys think this is a bad idea? I’ve seen some conflicting literature on the subject: some say the albumin will cause a biotin deficiency whereas others say that since the yolk is rich in biotin this is not a problem. So...

worried

http://www.t-nation.com/article/most_recent/all_hardgainers_are_not_created_equal I have just read this on t-nation and am now concerned that I might fall into the category this guy calls 'skinny-fat hardgainer' and that I might be fighting a losing battle trying to gain muscle. I have always been a...

OK, well, since starting I have gained around 14 or 15 pounds (was slightly more but was recently on holiday for a week and did not have the opportunity to eat as well as I do at home), this weight is defiantly at a plateau, I’m finding it very difficult to eat enough to gain more. As for other stat...

Two questions

I have been following a routine suggested here for about two months and have made modest (despite effort I don’t think I’ve really been eating enough – that’s another story), but none the less encouraging gains. I have two questions; the first of which is, will it be advisable to change the routine ...

multi vitamin

I have been considering taking a multi vitamin as I often see it recommended as part of a weight training diet, however after looking at the micronutrients page on this site it seems that, for most of the entries, the supplementation of the vitamin/ mineral is listed as being either not necessary; n...

Ah, Tim, you've caught me out... Thing is that I love the squats and the deadlifts and so started doing more of them, if you're saying it's too much though I'll take the point and cut back to what you say. It can be very difficult sometimes to have the discipline no to become over eager...
