Re: Buzz Training
In researching Old School stuff for my books, I saw it mentioned more than once that the German clubs in New York back in the old days would be eating & drinking all day long while lifting, which boggled everyone else' s mind. Cultural thing at the time,I guess. Arny used to have keg parties in the ...

Re: Designing grip work "accessory"
There are lots of approaches to grip strength. I feel direct forearm work has its place, but I like doing regular lifts with something that challenges the grip,, like using a fat bar, wrapping a towel over the bar, doing deadlifts with overhand grip instead of hooked, etc. I am working on a deadlift/...

Stiff leg deads are great, as long as you start light, keep the bar in close

It's best to have regular, reliable partners that know what you need & how to provide it. Grabbing random guys in the gym is hit or miss.

Re: Leg Drive (I Believe!)
The concept was reinforced in my mind by watching my friend Dave bench... he had a natural, raw 430 bench @220 at 44 years old. You can watch his entire body "Snap" at the bottom of the press. He has mastered positioning & leg drive, though he does not have a severe arch. I am still trying to develo...

Re: SHOULDER PRESS
If the sticking pt is off the chest on bench & right off the shoulders on presses, you might want to try pauses with moderate weight on both, and/or some static holds close to the bottom with good weight

Re: SHOULDER PRESS
Sometimes just trying different exercises for the same groups can help, or changing rep schemes, grip styles, etc can help. If you always do standing OH press, for example; some behind the neck work or heavy 1arm dumbbell work might help. Training the posterior and mid delts for overall shoulder gir...

Re: Questions about the Good Morning Exercise?
Good exercise. Guys I train with do it sitting on a bench in a cage, which makes it a bit safer
Re: Deadlift
Video is great and will answer many questions. Simply listening to an onlooker could lead you either way. Very few big deadlifters ( if any) have a completely straight up & down back.. a little lean is std procedure. If you are in a bent over row position, you have gone too far

Re: Bench press help
If you have trouble off the bottom ( what it sounds like), you might try doing pauses with light weight, or maybe static holds just off the chest. Most, including me, have just the opposite problem

Re: Clint's garage gym
Very nice setup, but dumb question; looks like a chin bar at top of cage, so why the need for a stand-alone one?

Re: Looking for lower back advice
De-compressing the spine might help.. it has for me when I started having low back pain. An inversion unit is a beautiful thing, as is a reverse hyper unit. Short of availability of either of these, just hanging from a chin bar helps
