Re: So I screwed my back again...

Thanks Stu. Yeah I've spoken with several Dr's about it and they've given me different explanations. One said if I am going to squat, use light weights and go for more reps. But if I feel any aggravation whatsoever, have a few weeks off. Another gave some fairly reasonable sounding advice by way of ...

So I screwed my back again...

I was lifting a pot the other day. Had my knees bent, completely crouched and came up slowly , leaning back as I would a deadlift, but now I've aggravated the herniated disk in my lower back. I'm pretty scared of getting under a bar for squats again. My form musnt be correct and I don't want to keep...

Re: Routine for my lazy ass

Thanks guys. I'll be doing 10-12 reps of each, because I screwed my back doing squats about a year ago on the 5x5 program (which I followed to a tee) and I find it easier to keep form with lighter weight. Also, I'm more interested in building size than strength. And because of my lack of fitness, th...

Routine for my lazy ass

I've posted on here a couple of times and have had successes with various workouts at various points in my life. Anyhoo, I'm trying to set up a routine that consists of 3 compound exercises that will cover the basics. I'm mainly interested in putting on some muscle and gaining a bit of strength. I a...

Re: 5x5 Squat Injury at 5th week

Thanks Kenny.

Yeah I think I'll do some core strengthening exercises in place of squats for a while. I'm just gonna start the squat with the empty olympic bar again in a few months and go from there.

Re: 5x5 Squat Injury at 5th week

Thanks moss. Could you walk when you hurt your back? Did you do something similar to what I described? Yeah I understand what I'm lifting isn't huge or even particularly heavy. I was always aiming at powerlifting, stronglifts type stuff, but I didn't make it past week 5 this time around. :thumbright...

5x5 Squat Injury at 5th week

Hi fellas, it's been a while. Sorry but this is gonna be a long post. I got back into training about 2 months ago, having purchased a solid olympic bar squat/bench setup. I decided I'd start on the 5x5 workout because I've read so much about it, and it eases your body back into working out. Anyhoo, ...

Re: simple workout

Thanks for the advice.

I think I'll add face pulls on days 1 and dumbell rows on day 2. Good idea. I thought it looked a bit push orientated.

I'm not all that fussed about arm and shoulder accessory stuff at the moment...

Won't i be getting enough incidental core work through squats and deads?

simple workout

I just joined a gym for the first time and want a simple workout I won't be overwhelmed going to the gym for. I'm basically going for a Rippetoe Starting strength style workout (Day 1 and Day 2 alternating 3 days a week) but with pull-ups incorporated (which coincidentally is the name of the gym I j...

Re: Belly Fat Diet

Alright now I've said that let me just play devils advocate to my own suggestions so you can disprove them. From Friday to Sunday afternoon I don't really eat much, but I don't workout either. If I eat, it'll be a fruit salad and a sandwich or something on the Friday, but then I skip dinner and put ...

Re: Belly Fat Diet

I can say with absolute certainty now that my alcohol intake basically ruins any sort of hope I have of losing my excess fat. I've been dieting on the low carb/high protein style diet touted by most of you guys, doing fairly intense weights sessions and walk/runs a few times a week, and although I'v...

Re: A diet I can actually maintain...

Haha yeah i just saw that post and had no idea where it came from. Seriously though is that cream of celery stuff bad? I thought those numbers looked pretty good. I put in one can which is about 3 times the serving values per 2 x 425gm can tuna and half celery and onion. Last night I had no rice. I ...

Re: A diet I can actually maintain...

I think it's a fairly good meal even with the cream of celery. This is the nutritional information per serving. You'd have about a serving with the tuna and other stuff. ENERGY 563 kJ (135 Cal) PROTEIN 3.7 g FAT - TOTAL 7.8 g FAT - SATURATED 2.5 g CARBOHYDRATE - TOTAL 12.4 g CARBOHYDRATE - SUGARS 4....

Re: Why don't we attract more quality members?

I agree with KenDowns. It seems like we've got our dukes up from the word go. Why not just change it to "Uncomfirmed @$$h0l3" I occasionally ask questions on this forum and more often than not it turns into an attack on my ignorance. I'm the most sarcastic bloke you're likely to meet but I only post...
