Convincing my fiancee to lift weights
So I'm getting married in about 9 months, and naturally enough my fiancee wants to lose weight before the wedding. I'm having the hardest time convincing her that lifting weights will help her trim down, since she only seems to like the treadmill. I'm making a little progress, since she has agreed t...

Re: Protein and fiber
Stu, I think you told me what I already knew but was afraid to acknowledge. I really need to increase my vegetable portions, since that would address both the fiber issue AND calorie intake. Then I can continue eating meat and eggs without worrying about what I'm lacking. Anyone have clever ideas fo...

Protein and fiber
Protein and fiber - two important parts of a good diet. Often, it seems that foods that are high in one are low in the other (foods that are high-fiber also tend to be high-carb). What is the best way to ensure getting enough fiber while minimizing carb intake? Oatmeal for breakfast has lots of fibe...

Re: Training at Home + Soccer Workout
1 - Good Mornings, straight-leg deadlift work both the hamstrings and erector. "Leg curl on ball" and "db squats?" Seriously? Use a barbell, and *never* use a ball for strength training. 2. It's tough to balance strength training while in season for your sport. Most people focus on maintenance but i...

Re: Upper arm?
Biceps, or anterior deltoid? Those are just variations on curls with slightly different emphases. You don't *need* to do any of them, but do the ones you want. Hopefully you are using them as strictly auxiliary work on top of your other compound lifts.

Plus, I'm guessing that folks in South Texas don't travel in and out of Canada as casually as folk in Washington and Montana. Detroit-Windsor is the busiest US/Canada crossing. It's always a big deal whenever the parity hits or switches, and a strong Canadian dollar seems to benefit our local econo...

(I stand in positive awe of the attendance figures for Michigan Stadium, the atmosphere must be wonderful). Yep, it is pretty awesome. Especially after a few morning beers. It's not so much the amount of playing time of an American football game, it's the intensity. Soccer players and [American] fo...

The key to getting people to get involved in a thread is to include the word "steroids" somewhere in the first post. I don't remember seeing many threads into 4 pages in 3 days. Can someone fix the typo in the OP subject? It actually says "Steriods." I suppose if someone did a search (subject-line ...

I got to take charge and stock the gym for my company about a year ago, I actually posted here and was able to use some of your advice. Thanks guys! This sounds amazing! At least you get more time at home because you can hit the gym the minute you finish work. If thats's all the things you can thin...

Just did my first barbell complex yesterday, with an empty bar just to see if I do it. 10 reps of: squat, hang clean, overhead press, bent over row, lunge, romanian deadlift, and calf raises. I feel like I was prison raped, especially my glutes - and it was just an empty bar! Gotta burn those calori...
