Re: Random crap
On Tuesday, it was deadlift day. I'm doing 5/3/1 - boring but big. I finished my second last heavy set, 155 kg x 3, and stood up. I proceeded to remove the straps from my left wrist, and it tore at the seams(at the loop). If I had been doing, say, 5 reps like last tuesday, it would have tore when I ...

Re: Sævar's log
My shoulder is fubar'd.. again. I previously had some shoulder problems when I started working out again. I had little to do, no job/school, so I went ahead and did 5 days a week, sometimes 6. It resulted in a lesion forming on my right rotator cuff. Since it healed, I've had no problems whatsoever....

Re: Sævar's log
Still working out. Just too lazy to log it properly. I just had about 1.5 weeks off since we had easter break, which entailed at least 4 nights where I was drunk off my a.$s. One night, I even did.. drugs. I'm ashamed of it. Never done it before. But it resulted in drinking for about 28 hours straig...

Re: Baffled on progress deadlift vs squat
I would just like to chime in and say that I experience this as well. My squats progress insanely slowly, while I'll be pulling 190kg in the deadlift for reps soon. What Mr. Croxdale said is really the one thing I've heard that describes it the best for me: "It feels like a new exercise every time I...

Re: Sævar's log
Deadlift day again today. I skipped squat day on friday.. my hamstrings were still minced from the other deadlifting session. Deadlift -- warmup -- 5 x 75 kg 5 x 95 kg 5 x 115 kg -- work sets -- 3 x 130 kg 3 x 150 kg 3 x 170 kg The last set was way too hard considering I pulled 180 x 4 like two week...

Re: Sævar's log
So I started 5/3/1 this week, and it's already working for me, I think. I had been doing my last, self-made program for way too long. Stuff like doing overhead press after benching flat and incline, thus tiring my triceps, was hindering my progression in the overhead press. Doing boring but big, so ...

Re: Pull-up Challenge, 2012
I realized in the gym the other day that I'm not doing "shoulder width pullups".. thinking of it, that would be really strange to do. At any rate, they're wide, but no the widest grip.
I pulled 12 on monday, so I guess I succeeded. BW 90 kg.

Re: The Twitch
Not sure I feel it quite like that, but when I have days off during the weekend I'm just aching for a deadlift session.

Re: Personal Best Log
I have two personal records. One is the all-time worst gym session I have ever had, today. I could barely deadlift 160 kg for 4 reps. With straps, even. I hadn't really eaten anything and felt lethargic and after the 160kg I felt like I was going to pass out. However, the other is a good one. 4 x 18...

Re: what do you take to the gym?
Since I go to school, I have a big bag with a bunch of stuff, but the stuff I use at the gym: Workout clothes("sport trousers" + t-shirt) Bottle for water(I normally drink half a gallon during workouts) Sometimes my shaker(depends if I'm doing pre-workout supplements) Straps, which I only use for my...

390 bench x 4 The Deads were good for me right now, but not a PR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2pxHvjDd9c&list=UUlcxz2faJepp1B1SEZvvSMg&index=1&feature=plcp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I think the name Jason Bennett, MD has a nice ring to it. :headbang: I have mixed feelings ab...

Re: Spot reduction -- not a myth?
You guys raise some valid points.
I didn't expect it to actually be *that* significant, anyhow, but I never knew that it was at all possible. It was merely curious.

Spot reduction -- not a myth?
So I was telling a friend that spot reduction was a myth, as is generally accepted, when he linked me to this study(Which happens to have been done here in my own country, heh): http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16985258" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It seems that spot reduction is...

Re: Personal Best Log
Awesome dude. How high are you setting the pins? Unfortunately, the gym I am in is one of the commercial kinds. They don't have a 'squat cage'. What I use is two step benches on top of each other, and it just so happens it is the right height for me. The bar is just half an inch above my knee cap, ...
