+1

I get bruised shoulders on front squats, and bruised shins on deadlifts. No pain no gain!

I think they'll bruise on the FS no matter what. The DL bruises are probably preventable I think.

Starting Strength stockists in the UK?

Any British/Irish members know where to pick this up at a reasonable price? Best I can find is these guys: http://www.langtoninfo.co.uk/showitem.aspx?isbn=0976805421 But at [1 million dollars]+p&p? I understand it's a textbook and therefore more expensive, but still. Amazon UK don't have it, just on...

What are p-bar dips? Dips on parallel bars? Are they like handstand pushups or planche pushups or something? If so, I'm massively impressed.

I watched a Swedish film called Dead Snow this week, featuring Nazi Zombies! It was $h1t, but in a good way. Lots of over the top ultra-gory violence. I loved the first Nazi Zombies level in COD4, but lost interest in the subsequent levels. They over-complicated it. Favourite game at the minute is L...

A little dry. OK, a lot dry. But still edible. A couple of minutes less in the oven next time, and a few tweaks to the recipe. Might try a non-baked batch too.

First batch in the oven. Used linseed, doesn't taste bad actually. Added some cinnamon and honey. Just enough time to clean the egg off the floor and mixture off the wall before they're ready.

My last gym had a station called KISS FM on 24/7, which played the same five stupid RnB songs on rotation. If I ever have to hear about that guy wanting to "make love in the club" again I'll go batshit insane. White Stripes, AC/DC, RATM all good. Faith No More, Stiff Little Fingers, Modest Mouse, Ki...

Nuts!

I hate 'em. Seeds too. They're nothing but birdfeed to me. But I'm trying to incorporate them into my diet with homemade protein bars which I'll be making for the first time tomorrow night. (God help my k-word) So I was thinking flaxseed and almonds. But I don't want them to overpower the taste of t...

I can see the value in working out alone too. If I have to wait to use equipment I can lose focus and concentration, leading to $h1t form. But for someone still on a steep learning curve like me, being able to watch/talk to/get advice from more experienced people is a definite plus. That, and there'...

I hadn't ordered the exercises yet, but had intended on doing upper body first. But I guess it makes more sense doing lower first. I'll maybe vary it though. I've been doing lots of core stuff cause of my back problems. I should do core on non-gym days, but for some reason I always find excuses not ...

New full body workout?

So I've been doing the same(ish) push/pull/legs split since I started at the gym last summer. I want to switch to a full body workout, and have come up with the following. My aim is to increase my compoud exercises from two to four per workout. Workout 1 Warm up – 5 mins cross trainer Barbell Chest ...

I'd broadly follow those steps. The difference being I plan my workout down to the finest detail before I even get to the gym. Down to the last stretch! I guess I'm a person that needs structure.

I'll maybe work on intensity a bit then. But in the past when I've done super sets or continuous tension etc, I've failed much sooner and felt I haven't got as good a workout as I would have by doing normal sets with regular rest periods. Am I wrong about this as well?
