Re: Squats and Deadlifts

If your goal is hypertrophy, you don't actually need to deadlift or squat at all - contrary to what is said.

Do they work? Yup. Do you have to do them to get humongous legs? No.

What are your goals?

Makes a huge difference with both appetite and energy.

The aspirin isn't nearly as effective as you would think, plus from what I've read the blood thinning effect is more dangerous than helpful.

Re: How I PSMF - Requted by Robertscott

Jeepers! That's rough. I've actually looked into Lyle McDonald's RFL and it's pretty interesting stuff. I have some questions too: what was your ephedrine dose? how long have you done this for? no whey? how crazy did you go when doing this? 1 bronkaid tablet + 1 caffeine pill (or 16oz coffee) 3x/da...

Re: How I PSMF - Requted by Robertscott

Nice. I wouldn't have the guts to eat nothing but chicken and broccoli for weeks. How long did you do this again? And with what results? How were your workouts? Max Effort? Did the diet have any noticeable effect? None during the 2 weeks I did it - I lift heavy, frequently, and am usually hopped up...

How I PSMF - Requted by Robertscott

It's pretty simple, really, which is why it's easy. Two foods: Chicken Breasts Broccoli 6 or so Supplements: Caffeine Ephedrine Fish Oil Multivitamin Potassium Pre-workout/creatine (I liked Maximize v2, before it was banned recently) Maintain same workout, add in fasted LISS cardio before eating eve...

Re: Caloric Intake/Cutting

Just to clarify, also - I don't think anyone needs to be eating more than 300-400g of carbs a day maximum unless you're a marathon runner. I'm all for restricting carbs to reduce weight - I just think the idea that carbs are the REASON we get fat is a little off base. The reason we get fat is becaus...

Re: Caloric Intake/Cutting

They're burned off as the bodies main energy source. That's a bit silly, don't you think? You are basically saying that we can eat all the carbs in the world, and everything is just magically burned? Nothing goes to fat cells. Only dietary fat goes to fat cells, carbs just raise the insulin and bur...

Re: Caloric Intake/Cutting

Carbs and protein being stored as fat in the body is HIGHLY unlikely. We don't have efficient enough pathways to do it. They simply turn off fat oxidation which causes dietary fat to be stored, which is done very easily. Lipogenesis? (Or De Novo Lipogenesis, DNL) Liver and muscles can't really stor...

Re: Why do we lift higher reps, sets during the off-season?

Weight lifting during the season is for maintenance in almost every sport ever conceived. No intelligent coach will have their athletes trying to improve strength/build muscle during the season, because the season is where performance matters and performance is hindered if you're still recovering. T...

Re: Caloric Intake/Cutting

To say a "calorie" from fat will cause the same about of fat gain as a "calorie" from carb or from prtoein assumes that the body extracts the same amount of energy from each type of food that a bomb calorimiter does, and that the body will use each nutrient in the same way and obtain the same amoun...

Re: Belt usage

Belt's are fairly pointless beyond competition, imo - I'm pretty sure they've shown it doesn't help prevent injuries as well. If the belt helps you lift more weight and you're not competing, then I don't see the point of it - just do leg press/other stabilized leg movements if you want more stimulus...

according to Mark's Daily Apple, it's likely that a third of the population are sensitive to gluten, and the number might actually be much higher. You're right though, I shouldn't have said "everybody" You shouldn't reference a blog for factual information. Mark's daily apple really shouldn't be yo...
