Thats interesting that you say scapular depression actually creates more space, because if you think about side lateral raises and upright rows, if you were to do them without elevating the scapular as you would naturally wouldnt you increase the risk of impingement and that is why people are told t...

Sorry... Scapula.
So do you mean that the amount of scapula depression does not correlate with an increased risk of impingement?

Thanks, I believe I got a shoulder impingement from depressing my scapular during DB bench, would you suggest I only retract it and keep elbows out or restract and depress the scapular and tuck my elbows in more? I would prefere the former as I feel it isolates the pecs more. Which brings me to my n...

Scapular retraction on chest exercises

I would of just said bench but apparently this applies to Pec Deck aswell. Articles say to keep the scapular retracted and depressed during pressing movements, and to keep the scapular retracted during pec deck, the reason for this is to not put the shoulder at a mechanical disadvantage, or a weak p...

Transverse adduction with cables??

I have overdevelopped delts from flat bench and upright rows, neither I do anymore. I cant do any pressing movements at the moment due to shoulder problems. I want to develop my chest without developping my anterior delts so much but I dont have a pec deck machine. I have adjustable parallel cable p...

This is the machine I might be using: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7WhcJUOZYM Or something like this: Its a standard seated row/ lat pulldown combo, the difference being that rather than your body being supported by a footrest you are supported by your knees being held down, if that matters?? htt...

Okay I am just going to do the straight back version, for some reason when I picture them I always picture a chick doing like 1-2 bars.

What about Hyperextensions, surely the lower back is allowed to round?

I always went heavy on the 1st one, and the gym only has the 1st one really. For the one that you showed it has a crappy lever one that is kind of like a 80 degree high row that puts a lot of the tension onto the forarms/biceps and lats rather than the rhomboids or I think traps. I read through the ...

Cable Seated Row form in detail?

I used to do Cable Seated Row with full back articulation with no problems, but I have forgot how to do them as this was a long time ago. The exercise I am referring to is exactly this: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/BackGeneral/CBSeatedRow.html Sorry but I don't understand what is meant by "lo...

Thanks for the responses, it has got better already, I was worried it was something more serious but I still find this odd it has happened. I do 45degree hyperextensions using full ROM, I am thinking of graduating that to more like 60degrees to concerntrate more on lower back than hamstrings. Althou...

Injured/strained lower back don't know how

I have been getting lower back pain, I dont think it is serious as I have had friends with very slight disc herniations and they couldnt get out of bed, my cousin had lower back problems so started deadlifting. At the moment now I have lower back trouble and I am not sure which exercise it is, but t...

Holding your breath on the concentric movement is bad for your eyes in the longrun and can do damage. You are suppose to inhale on the eccentric hold at the beginning of the concentric and exhale in a burst towards the end of the concentric. If you cant keep your breath then you take afew breaths at...

K, well the size you gained before you plateaud should of set you up a good base to build strength, next cycle I am going to zigzag but hit failure once per week. When I eventually stop making progress with size I will SD and if that doesnt work I will increase volume.

Tony, I was were you are at your age and I tried HST at the time. It sounds good and it's better than nothing. Stu How come you stopped and what were your results like? I tend to see on other forums, people either like it a lot, or dont and the ones who dont, usually dont fully understand the progr...
