Re: Beginner-->Intermediate
Dude, you either didn't read or ignored my post. It is some much more than how much you lift. And BF% has absolutely zero to do with what stage you are at. Dude, focus on the ratio.... 1RM/BW. That's where I think the difference between beginner, intermediate and advanced lie. The BF part was just ...

Re: Beginner-->Intermediate
Here's my theorem... Using calculated 1RM.... A beginner's 1RM/BW ratio will increase rapidly.... because of newbie gains -- a newbie's BW doesn't change much. An intermediate lifter will make gains in their 1RM and have an increasing BW (due to adding lean muscle mass) -- however, the 1RM/BW ratio ...

Re: Toe Trouble
I'm being totally serious...toe-tally. If you doubt me, go see a doctor. After he confirms that don't have gout, then fix your form. Regardless, you should have a doctor check you out to make sure you don't have tolio or kneezles. Now if you do decide to DL or squat barefoot make sure you don't do i...

Re: Intermediate 5/3/1?
I've refined the spreadsheet to its final form with a few conveniences added: http://www.downsfam.net/intermediate-5-3-1-deload.xls" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; My only suggestion at this point is to back off on the accessory lifts. Doing a 5/3/1 progression on them in addition to...

Re: About chin-up, pull-up and other
Yeah -- keep the thread alive! I think there's not much difference wrt lat development. The act of pulling yourself up is enough to activate the lats. It's more important to get a full contraction. Wide grip can be tricky -- I think most people go too wide, don't get a full contraction and don't get...

Re: Nice to "Meat" You...
It has been postulated that the amino acid leucine is responsible for the stimulatory effect of dietary protein on protein synthesis and 15g of essential amino acids would contain 3.2g of leucine. It's interesting that based on "...has been postulated..." he constructs the rest of his reasoning. I ...

Re: Nice to "Meat" You...
However, there is no proven limit in how much protein can be consumed in one meal. The rate of protein digestion is well known but it appears that protein digestion can go on for quite some time. It appears that you can go up to 60 hours without eating at all before your body starts consuming muscl...
