Re: Low Intensity Alternatives for Strength and Hypertrophy

Thanks for the links and the summary Kenny! That's a very good sum-up of all the research and do's and don'ts of occlusion training. Very interesting stuff.

Re: Need advise on a program i designed for my buddy

So he has knee issues but can still do squats, lunges and step-ups? In that case, I would also include some jumping and sprinting into the program. The exercise selection seems alright, I prefer the following ordeal with simple athlete programming: Dynamic Effort work (explosive exercise) - This wou...

Re: Bob's back rehab

I find it odd that I always want to share something bodybuilding related with you.. Anyhow, about the John Meadows and stretch-hypertrophy methods. I also learned about them from John, Shelby and I can't remember who was the scientist behind this consept but it was on Blue Collar Muscle Radio. My ch...

Re: Need advise on a program i designed for my buddy

I cannot give any advice. By telling this person is an athlete tells me nothing. What does the rest of his/her training program look like? What sport is this athlete playing? Is it in-season or offseason? What are the goals of this training? Etc. You know.

Re: Plan for my girlfriend

Hip thrusts are the best for glutes most of the time. Also I'd suggest some bulgarian split squats and reverse lunges to the mix. For a glute and hamstring burn I also like to do 45-degree back extensions with a posterior pelvic tilt. Maybe alter the two pressing exercises every workout instead of d...

Re: Paleo - Good or bad?

I won't dwell too deep into this book of bad arguments. You are making a lot of bold claims and assumptions of studies and "common day knowledge" that hold very little truth. I have just one thing to say. The correlation between fat intake, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer is well documented and ...

Re: best non creatine pre work out supps

In your case I would go with the desired body weight or consume only around 1.5g per kg / 0.75g per lb. That would be around 140-150g daily. Try to get some protein snack with your meals: Dairy products and eggs are great, so is meat. Nuts have some protein as well. For the sake of convenience you m...

Re: best non creatine pre work out supps

mmmmm cadbury cream eggs *drools* lol Alright. So Stu, I'm doing protein shakes in the AM right now because my protein intake for the day is, food wise, 2 hardboiled eggs and maybe half a serving of protein scattered in my dinner somewhere. I'm focusing on my diet, trying to keep candy, chocolate, ...

Re: Dumbbell Bent-Over Row

I think the YTWI (I haven't much done the L because I usually do and coach them while lying on the ground because you know, I'm usually coaching a whole team) is the best exercise to work your upper back. I love the agony people have with just bodyweight YTWI's when done for the first time. It looks...

Re: Bob's back rehab

How about some pump work with goblet squats or lunges? I've had fun doing these two variations: Lunges with 5210 -tempo. So 5s eccentric, 2s pause on the bottom, come up but never to full extension and change legs. Goblet squat 1,5 reps or elevator reps whatever you like to call them. Go down, come ...

If that's all the greens you eat, then yeah maybe some antioxidant/multivitamin might benefit you. But I'd suggest you to get it from real foods. Eat a portion of veggies at every meal.

Re: best non creatine pre work out supps

Why no creatine?

Carbs+Whey Protein. Simple as that. I have no reason to recommend anything else because I don't know:
1) What that buddy is eating otherwise
2) What his goal is anyway. Is it strength? Muscle? Fat Loss? Endurance?
