Re: anyone tried cheap clamp-on landmines?
I have that exact design and it works fine. I attached it to the bottom of my rack and it hasn't come lose and the weight of the rack holds that end down. I'd say it's probably best bang for your buck out there.

The Dreaded Deadlift Question
Should it be done on leg or back day? I've read both points of view extensively and it seems the majority opinion is that deadlift should be done on back day. I for the most part I do them on leg day but when I deadlift they are substituted for squats. I'm ok with trying them on back day so I can do...

Re: Anxiety/ panic attacks while lifting
I'm guessing that the person who posted this in July of 2014 isn't still around looking for additional answers! Since I missed this thread when it was fresh and new, since the post 2 before this one contains some misinformation, I'll post enough to correct that. Panic attacks and hyperventilation a...

Re: Anxiety/ panic attacks while lifting
Panic attacks are the worst thing in the world. I have had a couple of my life. Are you taking any pre-workout supplements with excessive amounts of caffeine? I almost had a full-blown panic attack the first time it took a very intense pre-workout No, no preworkouts. I don't even drink caffeine dur...

Re: Anxiety/ panic attacks while lifting
Hi there Somedudeathome Let me share to you some proper breathing exercise that you can keep in mind! Let's pretend your doing a bench press, remember to breathe out slowly and continuously while pressing the bar, then when you are on top of the lift or on the return, start inhaling. Just a little ...

Re: Anxiety/ panic attacks while lifting
I realize I'm late for some of these but I'll respond to them anyway. I don't come on here quite as much as I once did but I'm still a lurker and just noticed all these. I was prescribed Klonopin by my doctor at the age of 15 for treatment of acute anxiety after having been the victim of sexual abus...

Re: New stuff in my gym
I realize this is an old post but I've used one of those benches and they are great. My college had one and I couldn't believe the difference. Hated having to go back to the plasticy stuff again.
Re: Desk Job
Thanks I'll try that. That's something I had never heard before.
Desk Job
So I work 3-11:30 Mon-Fri every week. Before work I try to be outside while it's nice before going to work but of course I also do some sitting. After work when I come home I watch an hour or 2 of TV then go to bed. I've been doing this job for almost 3 years now after having a very active job befor...

Re: Anxiety/ panic attacks while lifting
Ken, you're 100% correct. That is basically the solution and what I've been doing. You did put it in a way that I have never thought about comparing it to other "preconceived notions." Being a hardgainer I thought I had a lot of limits but ended up proving a lot of those thoughts wrong. Maybe if I t...

Re: Hate to bring up foam rolling, but...
I'm not an expert on foam rolling but do use it to work my muscles. I don't do it everyday but whenever I'm feeling tight or there's some muscle soreness not even from working out I use it. They are great and do work things out nice. I don't see how using it to just massage a muscle would be harmful...

Re: Anxiety/ panic attacks while lifting
So kind of reviving this but I'll try to answer everyones posts. Ken, like you said they do always come at the worst times. I have taken both routes and I'm currently on a daily medication but also have Xanax for the times where it catches me off guard or I know that I'm going into a very stressful ...

My thoughts exactly. Any suggestions on how to overcome this? Any tips on how to control my breathing better than just the standard out while pushing?

I am but they don't lift weights so they don't have the same kind of insights as people on here might. They can offer the suggestions for general anxiety and coping strategies butdon't have the experience lifting.

Anxiety/ panic attacks while lifting
I've been dealing with anxiety for about 4 years now off and on. I don't have it 100% of the time but certain situations can trigger it and lead to panic attacks. For those not familiar during a panic attack my heart will start racing like I sprinted a mile, I'll feel light headed, can't catch my br...
