Re: Feedback on full-body workouts

And now I know. In that case, is low muscle mass indicative of anything? Meaning, does it matter by itself, or is it interpreted relative to other factors?

Re: Feedback on full-body workouts

I find it a little odd that you would refer to me in the third person. However, doing a year of ballroom dancing when I was 13 doesn't qualify me as a dancer, and I'm not so sure about your estimate of me having very little muscle mass. In the past summers I worked on a construction site for a house...

Re: Feedback on full-body workouts

Thanks a lot for the information. I'll read the articles when I first get a chance, but I skimmed through the forum thread and noticed the majority being against BMI and pro body fat percentage, and for good reasons.

Re: Measuring fitness level by muscle groups?

I understand. It sounds like something a kinesiologist might know more about, and I'll see what I can find out.

Re: Articles regarding sets Vs. different exercises

Would the somewhat opposite be true? Doing single sets of multiple exercises give me relatively less strength but in multiple movements?

Re: Feedback on full-body workouts

In that case, I have no standard to check my weight against. My regular medical tests show no issues, and I feel that I am in good health as far as I am able to evaluate this. I understand that your experience says otherwise and I appreciate your telling me this, but unfortunately I can only take it...

Re: Feedback on full-body workouts

Thank you for the advice Jclem. It is unclear from your reply why I need to change my workout to barbell lifts. Having said that, going to a gym is not an option for me. If your workout suggestion is somehow based on a difference of speed in gaining strength, though I don't know if this would be the...

Re: Articles regarding sets Vs. different exercises

Thanks for the reply, Ironman. If that is the case, I'm curious why multiple sets of one exercise is the norm. Is it the convenience of simpler routines, simply people starting out with the norm followed by force of habit, or is there a benefit I'm not seeing?

Re: Working out almost naked?

Ironman, I figured as much, thanks for the reply. Khronos, thanks for the help. I should have mentioned that "naked" doesn't mean no footwear, otherwise I'd be doing some sort of a paleo workout. Even so, I'd reckon dropped weights crush fingers all the same. And I can understand the "bar stripping"...

Re: Measuring fitness level by muscle groups?

I had stumbled over the strength standards once before, but I wasn't sure how to use them at the time. Thank you for the help, I will look into it. Reading about FMS movement screens, I'm not sure what kind of practitioners would offer this. Where do you get this from in the US?

Feedback on full-body workouts

Hello everyone, I have recently created and started doing 4 full-body workouts that I alternate between. After a month and a half, it occurred to me that I could post them on a fitness forum and see if others more experienced than me at fitness noticed any bad choices I may have made, either with sp...

Articles regarding sets Vs. different exercises

I consider myself a novice in fitness knowledge and I am looking to improve this knowledge. One issue I'm reading on currently regards exercise sets. So far I've found that the standard, almost universally accepted routine, especially when using weights, is to do exercises for a number of sets, incr...

Working out almost naked?

This may sound like a silly question and it certainly feels like one, but I work out at home, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any downsides to doing your workouts in your underwear.

Measuring fitness level by muscle groups?

I've tried searching the internet for how to evaluate the fitness level of different muscle groups, to objectively test whether one muscle group is at a different fitness level than others. I've had no luck, so either what I'm looking for isn't there or I'm not searching for the right terms. Do you ...
