Why does weightlifting not take more of a cardio mindset?
I got to thinking today amid reading an article about squats, it sort of got me thinking. It seems the popular trend today in the fitness world is elevating squats above pretty much every other exercise as one that everyone must be doing or they're not really "lifting". In this article - https://drj...

Also...1 other thing I forgot -
I am trying to increase grip strength. I have been doing farmer's walks with my kettlebells and bought a grip machine lever thingy to use as well. Any other suggestions?

Couple of questions after restarting lifting from long break
I recently starting getting back into lifting after a few years of not doing so are doing it half-assed. I have completely different equipment than before (kettlebells now, barbells before) so I am making some adjustments and just had a few questions. My first is concerning upper body training. For ...

hernia or some other strain?
I have had this issue I am not sure is a hernia, but 95% of the time I experience no pain. I know I need to go to the doctor and have it looked at, but just assume for this post that it is not possible. The first outset of this problem happened when I was lifting a box of weights too quickly and fel...

Having good endurance and power- minimal hypertrophy?
I am curious what you guys think about this the possibility of doing this? I'm definitely not overly muscular - but I am 6 ft and 245 lbs and want to get down to about 200 lbs, with primarily fat loss of course, but still retain a decent amount of strength, endurance, and power overall. The thing I ...

Re: When does cardio become detrimental to strength gains?
I should add that I was thinking of increasing my distance to maybe 2 or 3 miles and was wondering if anyone had experienced negative strength gains at that point.

When does cardio become detrimental to strength gains?
The main reason I am asking is because I have decided to start running with my dog instead of just having her fetch and Sprint around a whole bunch. She's getting older and I'm worried about her hurting herself sprinting too much. But she loves some jogging with me. right now we do about a mile ever...

Re: Low rep vs high rep...for deadlifts...no barbell!
Do you think wearing a backpack with weights/weight vest//dip belt is a smart way to add weight to the deadlift in this circumstance, or just make the lift too awkward to perform? I have a dip belt, but was thinking of buying a weighted vest for increasing push up weight in the future...just curious...

Re: Starting a cut, need advice
Ok, when you said you have a visible six pack I assumed that there probably wasn't much fat storage anywhere else. Sorry for the assumption. Most guys get it around their midsection which I know is a general assumption. Let us know how the HIIT works out if you are going to try it. Personally I don'...

Re: Starting a cut, need advice
Well then...what advice are you exactly asking for? Different lifts? Fat burning lifts? I know you asked about IF and HIIT...give it a go and see. Personally I think that much working out, with HIIT AND high volume strength training followed by calorie restriction is not good for any reasonable amou...

Re: Starting a cut, need advice
I'd worry more about diet than exercise. My personal opinion (tho others will differ on here) is that its mostly just cutting out processed carbs (sugary drinks/sweets being the main culprit) and MOST people will be fine weight wise. Next in the pecking order would be refined breads and rice and wha...

Low rep vs high rep...for deadlifts...no barbell!
Me and the wife have amassed a kettlebell collection at her request (we compromised as she didn't want a bench/bar/plates taking up so much room in our smaller townhouse) and for the most part, I'm pretty satisfied with it. You see, on exercises where I need a little more weight (so far our highest ...

Workout recovery for people with ALOT of food allergies?
Just wondering what would work...I know its crazy how many allergies I've developed, but I know for sure I am allergic to soy, milk, and peanuts/nuts, and its pretty bad (not going into shock bad, but hives and rashes bad). I was wondering what's a good option for a post workout recovery that has so...
