Re: How do I become a personal trainer? I have no idea!

Thanks for the the advice on the marketing and sales information Kenny! I will be studying those at the same time as my cert. I think I am going to make the plunge and purchase NSCA this weekend and get started. That sounds very interesting and profitable Jungledoc! I will look more into small group...

Re: How do I become a personal trainer? I have no idea!

wow thank you for the very in-depth reply! You guys have helped me so much so far and I am excited to get started. I know that a good certification is very important especially for the screening process that you talked about. I am lucky because the gym that I want to work for actually does have a de...

Re: How do I become a personal trainer? I have no idea!

Thanks for the response KPj! NASM has been one of the certifications that I have been looking at more in depth. I do agree with you that experience and practices more important than certification, but unfortunately I still need to get one. The gym I will work for recommends certifications that are a...

Re: Anxiety/ panic attacks while lifting

Panic attacks are the worst thing in the world. I have had a couple of my life. Are you taking any pre-workout supplements with excessive amounts of caffeine? I almost had a full-blown panic attack the first time it took a very intense pre-workout

Re: Best exercise to increase pull up strength for Parkour

My advice would be simply to do more pull-ups! Another good thing would be to maybe get into rock climbing. When I did rockclimbing for a few weeks my polo strength increased tremendously!

Re: number of reps per set.

if I reach the high-end goals (for example 12 reps) in one workout I will definitely increase the weights and most likely go for 10 the next time I do the same exercise. Once I get to 12 reps with that same way, once again I will increase the weight

Re: Hi reps for joints

For me joint pain comes from doing very low reps with highway but also using moderate weight for height reps. My sweet spot for no joint pain is approximately 8 repetitions.

Re: How do I engage the core?

I think that the best way to engage your core is to flatten your back. Practice with planks while keeping your back his plans you can. The same motion will engage the core in almost every exercise.

Re: Pull Up Training

The best advice I have for pull-ups is just to do them randomly throughout the day and not particularly to failure except maybe once a week. When I had to pull apart my house this is what I would do and my overall pool of strength went through the roof

Re: How do I become a personal trainer? I have no idea!

Hey thanks for the great response Kenny! I am definitely going to check out both NSCA and CSCS to see what they both have to offer me. I have been doing a lot of research on certifications lately in both of those seem like excellent choices. Good to hear that you do not need a health related degree ...

Re: Pull Up Training

I think the best way to increase your pull-ups is just to do a few at a time randomly throughout the day. Instead of trying to do one big session of pull-ups, have your pull-up bar conveniently located and just do a few every time you pass by.

Re: How do I become a personal trainer? I have no idea!

Hey Steward, thank you for the quick reply. I do not think I can take the CSCS because I did not have a degree in health related field. I have been doing research on various certifications and I am getting more confused more research I do haha. If you can shoot your friend Kenny a line, that would b...

Re: How do I become a personal trainer? I have no idea!

I am in the United States. In California that matters. I have a few kinesiology courses under my belt I took in college but nothing more. Are you planning on getting certified as a trainer in the future?

How do I become a personal trainer? I have no idea!

Hey guys, I have been lifting for years now and I am finally ready to take the plunge into a career as a personal trainer. I have been reading on this forum for years but have never really participated until now. I know a lot of members here are personal trainers so I thought this would be a great p...
